Frequently Asked Questions
The Difference Between Psychotherapy and Counselling
Psychotherapy addresses longstanding and difficult to understand issues. A psychotherapist is able to help you notice both conscious and unconscious thoughts and feelings. This helps us to shed light on difficult areas of life, and is a slower and longer term process.
Counselling tends to be shorter and is often appropriate for working on a specific issue which is troubling you in the present day. We are usually aware of what the problem is and need help to resolve the difficulty. This tends to be a shorter term process. For example we may find that counselling helps us with our feelings after a bereavement.
How Much Does Therapy Cost?
The fee for psychotherapy is £60 per session.
